Introduction Comments

"Tonight we are going to explore one of the two Entered Apprentice working tools - The Common Gavel."

As you watch this short video, think about what lesson you can take home tonight and apply to your daily living. Try to calm your internal voice that says, "I already know what the common gavel is and what it stands for."

Most of you can repeat what is taught in the ritual and catechism. As you know, there are many different interpretations to our symbols and rituals. What it meant to you when you were initiated may be different today. The lesson of the Common Gavel may be more poignant for you today than it was yesterday.

Life changes, but our symbols and rituals are constant learning tools to be better men. After the video, we will have a brief discussion about what this working tool means to you and how you are applying it, or would like to apply it, to your life outside of the lodge.
