Behind the Scenes at Macoy

Macoy Publishing & Masonic Supply started serving the Craft in 1849, and we haven't stopped since. Today, we're a team of 12 people keeping things moving behind the scenes. We're a small crew, but there's a whole lot that goes into getting your order from our shelves to your doorstep. And trust me, our job titles don't tell the whole story.

Shipping Department Add a photo of Ron packing an order
One Man. Every Order.

Shipping: Ron, the One-Man Department

Let's start with Ron. He's been in shipping for what feels like all 177 years of Macoy's history, judging by how much he knows. Ron is our shipping manager, but he's also the entire shipping department. Just him.

Every order that goes out the door passes through his hands, and he makes sure it gets packed and shipped. If you've ever wondered who's responsible for getting your order to you, now you know!

Customer Service Add a photo of the team answering calls
Real People. Real Knowledge.

Customer Service: Real People, Real Knowledge

Real people answering the phone and emails? I know, shocking!

Megan, Christina, and Michelle help customers find what they need, answer questions, and navigate the sometimes very specific requirements of their Masonic jurisdictions.

But customer service isn't all they do. Megan handles our social media and website, Christina works on book editing and proofreading, and Michelle handles accounting. Around here, there's usually more than one job on the to-do list.

And if we don't sell what you're looking for, we'll tell you who does. We care more about helping our customers than worrying about our competition. We'd rather see you get what you need than leave you searching for answers.

Regalia Department Add a photo of the team sewing regalia
Skill in Every Stitch

Regalia: A Whole Lot of Skill and Experience

Our regalia department is led by Cynthia, an incredibly talented manager who knows her way around a sewing machine. Seriously, she can sew just about anything. She oversees Virginia, Shelly, and Krishna, who help bring our regalia to life.

Their work doesn't stop at sewing, either. The team has also developed experience with our website and social media, so they contribute to more than the products you see coming out of the department.

Around here, it's pretty normal to find someone doing something you wouldn't necessarily expect from their job title.

Embroidery & Production Add a photo of Anthony and Jolynn at work
Tradition Meets Technology

Embroidery and Production: More Than Meets the Eye

Our embroidery team is a brother-and-sister duo: Anthony and Jolynn. They've worked together at Macoy for years, bringing a wealth of experience to the work they do. Their combined knowledge shows in every stitch.

They've been at it long enough that some of our embroidery files are still on floppy discs. Yes, actual floppy discs.

Anthony's work extends well beyond embroidery, too. He's our go-to guy for laser engraving, helps with book production, and handles purchasing. So while he's making sure an embroidered design comes out right, he might also be working on a completely different part of the business. Just another day at Macoy.

Peggy Add a photo of Peggy keeping everything running
The Glue That Holds Us Together

Peggy: The Woman Who Does It All

Every workplace has that one person who seems to know everything, can fix anything, and somehow knows what's going on in every department. At Macoy, that's Peggy.

She's our manager, but that title barely scratches the surface. Peggy wears just about every hat Macoy has to offer, and she does a fantastic job of keeping everything running. She's the person helping hold all the moving pieces together and, perhaps most importantly, keeping the rest of us sane.

We're not entirely sure how she does it. We're just glad she does.

Steve, Our Owner Add a photo of Steve at Macoy
Carrying the Legacy Forward

Steve: The Heart Behind Macoy

And, of course, there's Steve, our owner. His passion for Macoy and his love for the Craft are a big part of what keeps this company going.

Macoy has been serving the Masonic community since 1849, and carrying that legacy forward takes more than selling products. It takes people who care about what they do and the customers they serve.

Steve's dedication helps keep that spirit alive, and we're proud to be part of a company with such a long history.

A Small Team That Wears a Lot of Hats

Here's the thing about Macoy: we don't have a separate department for every little task. We have people who know their jobs, learn new skills, and jump in wherever they're needed.

Our sewing team helps with social media. Our embroiderer handles laser engraving and book production. Our customer service team also works in marketing, editing, and accounting. And Peggy somehow keeps track of it all.

We're not a giant warehouse full of people you'll never meet. We're a team of 12 people in Richmond, Virginia, with years of experience, a few unconventional job descriptions, and a shared commitment to serving the Craft.

The next time you call, send an email, or place an order, remember that there are real people behind it. We're the ones answering your questions, making your products, packing your orders, and figuring things out along the way.

That's Macoy behind the scenes. And we're glad you're here.
