By-laws.
Each lodge adopts by-laws which must conform to the regulations of its Grand Lodge, and ill subsequent amendments must be approved by Grand Lodge or the Grand Master. Where there are numerous lodges, it seems impossible to keep the various codes in conformity with Grand Lodge requirements, so that some Grand Lodges (California is one) have adopted standard codes or forms of by-laws which lodges must use, only a few provisions thereof being left to the choice of the lodge, such as times of the monthly stated meetings, fees and dues, and even those may be subject to certain minimum requirements.
