Burke, Edmund.

Celebrated Irish-English statesman, particularly friendly to the American Colonies prior to the R*volution. About 20 months before the Declaration of American Independence, he delivered his great speech on ”Conciliation with America” in the English House of Commons (April 1774). He was born at Dublin in 1729 and died in England in 1797. He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge No. 44, Clerkenwell, London.
