Laird (Landlord) of Aichinleck and, hence, a non-operative, was present in Lodge of Edinburgh, June 8, 1600. This is the earliest minute entry found anywhere showing the presence of a non-operative in a lodge. James Boswell, biographer of Dr. Johnson, was a descendant of John.
