Begemann, George E. W.
Begemann, George E. W. A Masonic student, particularly, in the field of Ancient Charges or Gothic Constitutions (q.v.). He was born in 1843 and died in 1914. In 1888, he became Provincial Grand Master in Mecklenburg for the Grand National Lodge at Berlin. He was a corresponding member of Quatuor Coronati Lodge No. 2076 of London and contributed many articles to A. Q. C. He made an extensive examination and classification of the Gothic Constitutions, and meticulously divided them into families and classes and groups according to their contents and variety of expression. In 1909-10, he published a work on the early history of Freemasonry in England; in 1911 he published a like work on Ireland; and in 1914 one on Scotland.
