Baluster. In the Scottish Rite, a circular or declara­tion issuing from a Supreme Council. There seems to be no explanation for the adoption of such word which is from the French, balustre, and the Eng­lish, ballister, or banister, meaning a short column or spindle, a number of which in a row along a balcony or stairway make a balustrade.
