Baldwin II.

Baldwin II. Several members of the House of Flanders reigned as Kings of Jerusalem during the period of the Crusades. Baldwin II was a cousin of Godfrey of Bouillon and Baldwin I, succeeding the latter as King of Jerusalem in 1118 A. D. He reigned until 1131, and during his reign the Order of the Temple or the Knights Templar was formed and admitted to living quarters on Mount Moriah. In accordance with that tradition, the modern Order has always honored the name Baldwin. See BALDWIN ENCAMPMENT.
