Arizona. From California there were chartered in Arizona Territory Azatlan Lodge No. 177 in 1866; Arizona Lodge No. 257 in 1879; and Tucson Lodge No. 263 in 1881, and a dispensation issued for Solomon’s Lodge in 1881. New Mexico chartered White Mountain Lodge No. 5 in 1881. On March 23, 1882, delegates from Arizona, Tucson, and White Mountain Lodges met in Tucson, adopted a constitution and installed Grand Officers. The first chapter of Royal Arch Masons was Arizona Chapter No. 1 in 1880. The Grand Chapter of Arizona was formed Nov. 13, 1889 by Arizona No. 1, Prescott No. 2, Tucson No. 3, Cochise No. 4 and Flagstaff No. 5. Councils of Royal and Select Masters were formed in 1893 and 1895 but both expired. Huachuca Council No. 1 chartered in 1915, Hiram Council No. 2, 1915, Gila Council No. 3, 1921, and Phoenix Council No. 4, 1921, formed a Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters Feb. 14, 1922. Arizona Commandery No. 1 chartered in 1883, Ivanhoe No. 2, and Phoenix No. 3 formed the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar November 15, 1893. Scottish Rite bodies were formed as follows: Lodge of Perfection, 1883, Chapter Rose Croix, 1907, Council of Kadosh and Consistory, 1909.
