Amis Reunis, Loge des
Amis Reunis, Loge des. Lodge of United Friends at Paris in the latter part of the 18th century. It was one of the several lodges composed of aristocratic, wealthy, and learned men. This one is said to have been inspired by Savalette de Langes, who originated the Philalethes or Searchers for Truth as an institution of this Lodge. It sought to save French Masonry from the errors, innovations, and deviations in which it had become hopelessly involved. Upon dissolution of the Lodge, its valuable library was taken over by the Scots Philosophic Rite.
Macoy Collector's Note: An important hub of intellectual French Freemasonry before the Revolution, dedicated to preserving the Craft's integrity against esoteric innovations.
