Aloyau, Societe de L’. An organization of Englishmen in Paris prior to the Revolution of 1789, mentioned in Thory’s Acta Latomorum. The name means ”Sirloin of Beef,” probably indicating a dinner club. It professed to have some connection with the Mediaeval Knights Templar and to possess some of their records. The society did not survive the Reign of Terror.
