Almanac, Masonic. Masonic almanacs and calendars have gone out of vogue, but were issued by various Masonic authorities in the 18th century, though never to any extent in America. Such an almanac was published at the Hague in 1752 and annually from that year to 1778; one at Edinburgh in 1765; one in Germany in 1771; one in London in 1775; another in 1777; one in France for the years 1796-1797. Almanacs were often published by English Provincial Grand Lodges. The Masonic Year, edited by Robert I. Clegg, was first published by Masonic History Company of Chicago in 1920. It is to be noted, however, that, unlike almanacs and calendars generally, the above were often reviews and compendiums of information rather than prophesies. Rob Morris published Masonic Almanacs in 1860-1865.
