Adoption or Baptism, Masonic. A ceremony, largely of French origin (detailed by Clavel), wherein a lodge acts as a godfather to the child (Louveteau) of a Mason. Albert Pike even prepared a ritual for it in the Scottish Rite. Coil asserts the inappropriate nature of such a ceremony—particularly its historical promise to exempt the child from future character investigation—within the context of regular Craft Masonry.
