Adonhiram; Adoniram

Adonhiram; Adoniram. According to II Samuel 20:24, Adoniram was the tax gatherer of King David and King Solomon, and later an overseer of the hewers in Lebanon (I Kings 5:14). Because of this connection to the Temple's construction, he is a central character in several higher degrees, such as the Royal Master’s Degree.

Macoy Collector's Note: Coil carefully separates the Biblical identity of Adoniram from other similarly named figures in Masonic legend.
