Adept

Adept. A word used in the Scottish Rite, referring to one skilled or versed in any art, and, hence, one in possession of the secrets of a degree. The Hermetic System and other groups of Hauts Grades often had a degree named Adept. For example, Knight of the Sun or Prince Adept is the 28th of the Scottish Rite list. Chief Adept is the title of the Provincial head of The Masonic Rosicrucian Society. See DEGREES IV.

Macoy Collector's Note: The title of Adept highlights the influence of Hermetic and Rosicrucian philosophical systems on the advanced degrees.
