Addresses, Masonic. Preserved Masonic addresses are rare between 1717-1750, largely due to a policy by the Grand Lodge at London of avoiding public discourse. Notable early addresses include those by Desaguliers (1721), Francis Drake (1726), Martin Clare (1730), and Chevalier Ramsay (1737). Ramsay’s address is credited with influencing the birth of the Hauts Grades. Modern collections include works by Roscoe Pound, Allen E. Roberts, and Wallace McLeod.
