Adams, John Quincy

Adams, John Quincy. The sixth U.S. President (1825-29). Though an intense patriot, he became a figurehead for the Anti-Masonic movement in 1831 after losing the Presidency. He published Letters on the Masonic Institution, denouncing the Craft. He is not to be confused with a Boston printer of the same name who was a Mason.
